Listen, if you have a mess on your hands and can’t make heads or tails of the books, that’s when you need a cleanup. Luckily, you don’t need to be scared. Many companies have needed this because so many companies didn’t have the right people. the right systems, the right detail, or the right direction. There are a ton of reasons that things get messy, confusing, or behind, but we aren’t here to judge, we’re here to help! This is what we do. So, just for a little insight, there is a method to the cleanup madness. The method starts with understanding the company, how it currently operates, and how it has operated in the past. This helps with our accounting assessment and cleanup exponentially because with this information, the transactions make more sense. We can easily spot something that seems off, but if we know something that happened in the past, that something might just be in the wrong place and we can move it. If you don’t have the information, we will work it out by the old-school, tried-and-true method of careful analysis.
Then we get to pull all of the source data, which can be anything from POS system reports and bank statements, to inventory counts and cash transport movements. Once we have the data, we get to compare that data to your accounting system to see what aligns and what doesn’t. Sometimes the data doesn’t align for legitimate reasons related to various accounting treatments, but this gives us a starting point. We dig into every account to review every transaction, to find inconsistencies and inaccuracies and identify logical movement along the way.
With cleanups we are rebuilding your financial data and revising what’s already there. We will have questions, we will need backup, we reconcile EVERYTHING and anything that cannot be validated, gets removed.
